‘Beef’ Season 2 Trailer: Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan in a Marriage from Hell as the Netflix Series Returns

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Cailee Spaeny and Charles Melton play a young couple caught in the marital crossfire of an older pair in the return of Lee Sung Jin’s Netflix series.

After three years, Netflix is ready to deliver the second season of Beef. This time, Lee Sung Jin’s anthology series follows the conflicts of two very different couples—both with each other and within their own relationships.

The trailer, set to the song “Punching in a Dream” by the New Zealand band The Naked and Famous, begins with a candid conversation between Carey Mulligan’s character, Lindsey, and Cailee Spaeny’s Ashley on the golf course of the country club where Lindsey’s husband, Josh (Oscar Isaac), serves as the general manager. When Ashley, who works at the club with her fiancé Austin (Charles Melton), asks if she is happy in her marriage, Lindsey gives a starkly honest reply:

“I think in our hearts we both knew it was just a temporary bandage for the massive pain of having chosen the wrong person.”

The trailer then pivots to the season’s central conflict as Austin and Ashley witness and record Josh and Lindsey in the middle of a heated confrontation. Following the incident, all four individuals find themselves vying for the favor of the club’s billionaire owner, Chairman Park (Youn Yuh-jung), who is dealing with a scandal of her own involving her husband, Kim (Song Kang-ho). The Season 2 cast also includes So-yun Jang, William Fichtner, Michaela Hoover, and Matthew Kim.

The first season of Beef, starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong as two strangers in Los Angeles whose lives intertwine after a road rage incident, premiered in April 2023. Featuring Joseph Lee, Young Mazino, David Choe, and Patti Yasutake, the debut season was a critical darling, earning eight Emmy Awards, including acting honors for Yeun and Wong and the award for Outstanding Limited Series.

Lee and the four leads of the second season serve as executive producers. While Yeun and Wong do not appear in the new episodes, they also remain on board as executive producers. Jake Schreier, Anna Moench, Kitao Sakurai, and Ethan Kooperberg round out the executive production team, with A24 behind the production.

All eight episodes of Beef Season 2 will be released on Netflix on April 16.
